A query is one search or knowledge lookup made with your API key, over REST or MCP: a search of the global knowledge base or of one of your own indexes, an explain call, or a knowledge call such as fetch or resolve. A batch call counts as one query. Managing keys and indexes and checking your usage do not count.
There are no overage charges. Once you reach your plan's monthly queries, further query requests return HTTP 429 until the quota resets at the start of the next calendar month (UTC), or until you upgrade.
Each plan has a per-minute request limit and a per-second burst limit, both listed on the plan. Requests over either limit return HTTP 429; slow down and retry.
Yes. Every plan, including Free, can search the 48.4M-entry global knowledge base and use the hosted MCP server with the same API key.
IaaS (Indexing as a Service) builds an index from your documents and gives you the file to download and run yourself instead of hosting it with ColdState. The number on each plan is how many IaaS jobs you can have open at once. A finished index can be downloaded once, within 24 hours. The Free plan does not include IaaS.
Paid plans are billed monthly in US dollars through Stripe; the Free plan needs no credit card. You can cancel at any time from the Billing page and keep your plan until the end of the billing period. Partial months are not refunded, but within the first 14 days of a new paid subscription you can email daniel@coldstate.ai for a full refund.
